A scale drawing keeps every shape but shrinks every length by the same scale factor. At 1 cm to 50 cm, divide a real length by 50 to draw it and multiply a drawn length by 50 to find the real one. Areas change by the scale factor twice: lengths × 50 means area × 2,500. Redrawing at a new scale means going back to the real lengths first.
