Volume is the space inside a solid, counted in unit cubes. A box holds one layer of l × w cubes, stacked h layers high, so V = l × w × h, or V = B × h with B the base area. Half-unit cubes fill a box with fractional edges, and the formula still gives the same number. Boxes stacked together make a composite solid: add the volumes, and for the surface area take away the hidden faces. The crew packs the clubhouse storage bins at the Blueprint Table.
