Week 09

Proportional Relationships

// The straight line through zero

Two quantities are proportional when every pair has the same quotient, the constant of proportionality k. A proportional table graphs as a straight line through (0, 0), and its equation is y = kx. Unit rates can come from fractions, and percent increase or decrease compares a change with the starting amount. This week the crew logs seedlings for the Field Day plant table and reads a scatter plot for a pattern.
