Friday: Freddy's measuring game

Freddy the Frog hops onto a lily pad with a tape measure around his neck.

"Ribbit! Welcome to the measuring pond," he says, straightening his bow tie.

"Each lily pad has a puzzle about units, area, line plots or fractions."

Hazel the Hedgehog sharpens her pencil. Bennie the Bear unrolls a big sheet of paper.

"Remember to change to the same unit first," says Bennie.

Freddy grins. "And remember that frogs measure jumps in centimeters!"

Game 1: Convert

Game 4: True or false?

SentenceTrue or false?
6 × 12 = 72?
2 × 9 + 2 × 7 = 63?
5/10 + 30/100 = 80/100?
1 yard = 3 feet?
1 liter = 100 milliliters?
WHY THIS EXERCISE2 × 9 + 2 × 7 is 32, the perimeter. 63 is the area. And 1 liter is 1,000 milliliters.
Try it
Do 3 frog jumps across a room with a grown-up watching.
Measure each jump in centimeters.
Add the three jumps. Change the total to meters and centimeters.
Draw a rectangle on grid paper. Label its sides, area and perimeter.
