Oliver the Owl looks at his pocket watch.

"Lizzy, it is 3 o'clock," says Oliver.

"How do you know?" asks Lizzy.

Oliver shows the clock.

Learn it: the hour

A clock has a short hand and a long hand.

The short hand shows the hour.

When the long hand points to 12, it is o'clock.

The short hand points to 3. It is 3 o'clock. We write 3:00.

Half an hour is 30 minutes.

The short hand is halfway between two numbers.
