Rocket unrolls a long paper banner. "Defender Hall of Fame!" he says. "But I mixed up the order."
Raven studies it. "What do you notice? Which defender does a germ meet first?"
Nova floats to one end of the banner. "Start outside the body," she says. "Then travel in."
Rocket grabs his tape. "Time to fix it. Mistakes make great second drafts!"
| Defender | Where | How it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Skin | All over the outside | Blocks germs like a wall |
| Tears | Eyes | Wash away germs and dust |
| Mucus and nose hairs | Nose | Trap dust and germs |
| White blood cells | Blood, spleen, bone marrow | Gobble up germs and remember them |
| Your habits | Everywhere you go | Handwashing, sleep, food and exercise |

The defenders do not work alone.
Blood from the heart carries white blood cells everywhere.
Bone marrow inside bones makes some white blood cells.
Your brain makes your muscles sneeze when your nose needs clearing.
Body systems are a team, just like Rocket, Raven and Nova.
Outstanding work this week! Tomorrow is Body Lab Day: a glitter germ test at the sink.
