Rocket peers at his chain. "It looks a bit orange and crusty," he says.
He reaches out to touch it. Raven gently stops his hand.
"What do you notice first, just by looking?" she asks.
Nova hovers by the back wheel. "Eyes first," she says. "Then think about which lever holds this wheel on."
Rocket grins. "Look, do not touch. Got it!"
The C check looks at the chain and the cranks.
Check if the chain is loose, rusty or dirty.
The cranks are the arms that hold the pedals.
A grown-up makes sure the crank bolts are tight.
If the chain skips on the back gears, it may need a fix.
Some wheels are held on by a quick release lever.
Look and feel if the quick releases are locked in tight.
The lever should point back, so nothing catches on it.
Some brakes have a quick release too. It must be closed again.
A grown-up opens and closes every quick release.
