Maya sits down with her kids to talk about a family AI agreement. She asks them what they think is fair.
Ben takes his classroom AI plan to his principal, to check it against the school's policy.
Rosa writes a staff AI policy for her shop and her helper. She keeps it to one page.
Each plan answers the same four questions in a different setting.
Read the section for your track first. Saturday you will finish the full page with a template.
A family AI agreement is a short plan you make together. You decide whether a child uses any AI tool, and you sit with them.
Under the COPPA Rule, a child is anyone under 13. A child's full name, photo or voice recording counts as personal information.
So the "never sees" part of your agreement is easy to write. No full names, school, address, photos or voice clips.
Add your family code word and call-back rule from week 6.
A classroom AI plan must fit your school and district policy, so check it with them before you use it.
Under FERPA, a student's name, parents' names, address and student number are personally identifiable information.
The Department of Education warns that general AI models are not built with student privacy in mind.
Its seventh recommendation is to develop education-specific guidelines and guardrails. Your plan is a small, local version of that.
A staff AI policy tells everyone how the business uses AI. The SBA suggests not feeding sensitive or proprietary data into AI tools.
It also says a person should check every AI message, and suggests a public statement on how you use AI.
Add a line that AI never writes reviews or testimonials, and a call-back rule for payments.
