Friday: Whole-Course Review

On the last Friday, Maya, Ben and Rosa meet for coffee and look back over eight weeks.

"I used to think it knew things," Maya says. "Now I know it predicts words."

Ben adds, "And I know what never goes in." Rosa smiles. "And that a person always checks, and we say so."

Eight weeks in eight lines

  • Week 1: AI finds patterns in data and predicts the next word. It does not think like a person.
  • Week 2: AI can state false things with confidence, even with made-up citations. People can over-trust it.
  • Week 3: Never paste private data. Children's and students' details have legal protection.
  • Week 4: Ask clearly, then check everything. You stay in charge, like riding an electric bike.
  • Week 5: Biased training data can make tools serve some people less well than others.
  • Week 6: AI makes scams more believable. Use a code word and call back on a known number.
  • Week 7: Say when AI helped. Never fake reviews or endorsements.
  • Week 8: Write a one-page plan: what it is for, what it never sees, who checks and how you tell people.
