Water is always in the air as an invisible gas called water vapor. Energy from the Sun evaporates liquid water into vapor, and when air cools to its dew point the vapor condenses back into liquid drops. Gravity pulls rain and snow back down. Together these steps make the water cycle, which moves water between the oceans, the air, the land and living things, driven by the Sun and gravity.
