Tuesday: Prefixes pre and dis

Rosie and Ferris want to bake muffins for the Word Tree party.

"First we preheat the oven," says Rosie. "That means heat it before."

Ferris sniffs a green bean. "I dislike beans," he says.

Rosie smiles. "That is fine. Beans do not go in muffins!"

The prefix pre means before.

Preheat means heat before. Preschool is the school before kindergarten.

The prefix dis means not, or the opposite.

Dislike means not like. Disagree is the opposite of agree.
