Saturday: Sound Hunt

Donnie the Deer leads everyone down the hill.

Ferris rolls up the Sound Map and tucks it away.

"Suffixes are hiding all over," says Donnie.

"Let us hunt for word tails at home!"

  1. A suffix is a word part at the end of a word.
  2. Er compares two. Est compares three or more.
  3. Ful means full of. Less means without.
  4. Ly tells how. Ness names a thing. Y tells what it is like.
  5. Sometimes double a letter, drop an e or change y to i.

This week your reader learned suffixes, the word parts at the end.
For a tricky long word, cover the suffix first.
Read the base word, then read the whole word.
Praise the try, not just the right answer.

Great hunting! Next week, word parts go at the front.
