At Shape Hollow, Ferris finds a pile of shape signs.
"Let us sort them," he says. "But how?"
Bennie picks up a square sign.
"This square has 4 square corners, like a rectangle," he says.
"It also has 4 equal sides, like a rhombus."
Ferris tilts his head. "So the square fits in both groups!"
An attribute is something true about a shape.
A rectangle has 4 square corners.
A rhombus has 4 sides of the same length.
A square has both! So a square is a rectangle and a rhombus.
All of them have 4 sides, so all are quadrilaterals.
Some quadrilaterals are not squares, rectangles or rhombuses.
They have 4 sides, but no square corners and no equal sides.
