Ferris the Fox spreads his trail map on a stump.
"The last stop of the trail is Shape Hollow," he says.
"The signs there are cut into many shapes."
Bennie the Bear holds up a sign with four sides.
"Shapes with exactly four sides have a special name," says Bennie.
"They are called quadrilaterals." Ferris repeats the long word, smiling.
A quadrilateral is any flat shape with exactly 4 straight sides.
Squares, rectangles and rhombuses are quadrilaterals.
Trapezoids and parallelograms are quadrilaterals too.
This is a rhombus. All 4 of its sides are the same length.
This shape has 4 sides of different lengths. It is still a quadrilateral.
