Chris the Coyote taps his feather hat and smiles.
"Today my story is about a walk," he says.
"Lizzy and Bennie walk to the old oak tree."
"Listen for every length on the way."
"Then we can add the lengths together."
Lizzy and Bennie walk 25 meters to the pond.
Then they walk 30 more meters to the oak tree.
"How far did we walk?" asks Lizzy.
Bennie adds the lengths. 25 plus 30 is 55 meters.
On the way home, they find a vine 18 inches long.
Lengths are numbers, so we can add and subtract them.
Keep the same unit for both lengths.
Say the unit in your answer, like 55 meters.
