⏱ about 15 min

Thursday: The lantern walk

Chris the Coyote taps his feather hat.

"One evening, Riley led a lantern walk," he says.

"Twenty-six friends came from the meadow."

"Then thirty-three more came from the pond."

"Riley held his lantern high and counted everyone."

"He wanted to be sure nobody was left behind."

Story: Counting the walkers

26 friends came from the meadow.

33 friends came from the pond.

Add the tens: 20 + 30 = 50.

Add the ones: 6 + 3 = 9.

So 59 friends walked with Riley.
