Tuesday: Greater, less or equal

Oliver draws a sign in the dirt with a stick.

"This sign is like a hungry mouth," he says.

"The open side always faces the greater number."

Bennie writes 356 and 382.

"Both have 3 hundreds," says Bennie.

"So now we look at the tens!"

Learn it: the signs

The sign > means greater than.

The sign < means less than.

The sign = means equal to.

In 356 and 382, the hundreds are the same.

5 tens is less than 8 tens.

So 356 < 382.
