Thursday: A story of many acorns

Chris the Coyote sits by the campfire with his satchel.

"Long ago, the squirrels gathered acorns for winter," he says.

"They packed them in bags of one hundred."

"Little piles of ten sat beside the bags."

"A few loose acorns rolled in the grass."

"How many acorns did they have?"

Story: The acorn count

The squirrels had 2 big bags of 100.

They had 5 piles of 10.

Three loose acorns rolled in the grass.

Bennie counts: 100, 200, then 210, 220, 230, 240, 250.

Then 251, 252, 253!
