Number Hunt
// Ten tens make a hundred
⏱ about 15 min

Saturday: Number Hunt

Samantha the Squirrel bounces up to Bennie with a big grin.

"Fun fact! Big numbers hide all over your home," she says.

"Look on books, clocks, doors and boxes," says Bennie.

"When you find a number with three digits, say each digit's value."

Hunt for three-digit numbers

Look for numbers with three digits.

Say how many hundreds, tens and ones.

Tell what each digit is worth.

Your grown-up says a three-digit number.
You draw it with squares, lines and dots.
Squares are hundreds, lines are tens, dots are ones.
Switch jobs and play again.
Draw blocks to show 324.
For a grown-up
This week your child learned hundreds, tens and ones.
Ask them, "What is the 4 worth in 342?"
Grouping real things by tens helps a lot.
Zero holds a place, as in 706.

Great hunting! Next week Bruce helps us count to 1000.
