Tuesday: The compare signs

Bruce draws three signs in the sand.

"These signs help us compare," he says.

Bennie points to each one.

"Greater than, less than and equal to."

Learn it: three signs

The sign > means greater than.

The sign < means less than.

The sign = means equal to, or the same as.

The open side always faces the greater number.

Bennie writes 45 > 38.

He reads it: 45 is greater than 38.

Then he writes 38 < 45.

He reads it: 38 is less than 45.
