Week 07 · Turn-around facts and three numbers

Tuesday

Start with the bigger number
// Rosie hops both ways
⏱ about 15 min

Tuesday: Start with the bigger number

Rosie has 2 carrots in her bag.

Bennie gives her 9 more.

"Do I count on from 2 or 9?" she asks.

Learn it: count on from the bigger number

Look at 2 + 9.

Counting on 9 from 2 takes a long time.

Turn it around: 9 + 2.

Start at 9. Count on 2, "10, 11."

So 2 + 9 = 11.

Hops on a number line from 9 to 11

Two hops from 9 land on 11.
