Monday: Find the missing part

Riley the Raccoon brings a lantern and a puzzle.

"Bennie, I have 3 acorns," says Riley.

"I need 5. How many more do I need?"

Learn it: count on to the whole

A ? hides a number.

Look at 3 + ? = 5.

3 is a part. 5 is the whole.

Bennie starts at 3. He counts on, "4, 5."

He said 2 numbers. The missing part is 2.

3 red and 2 gold make 5. So 3 + 2 = 5.
