Chris the Coyote here. Today Lucy needs a hand.

Lucy the Ladybug flutters over the big table.

"Everyone is coming to eat," she says. "Help me!"

Lucy and Ferris set the table. A plate, a cup, a fork and a spoon.

What a place is

A helper sets the table before a meal.

Each person gets one place.

A place is one spot at the table.

One plate, one cup, one fork, one spoon.

Lucy counts the people first. Then she counts plates.

  1. Count the people who will eat.
  2. Put out one plate for each person.
  3. Add one cup for each person.
  4. Add one fork and one spoon for each.
