Week 02 Β· My Room, My Job

Friday

Keeping it up
// A bed in four steps, a place for everything, a ten-minute tidy
⏱ about 15 min

Friday: Keeping it up

Freddy the Frog hops onto his lily pad stage. "Friday review! This week was all about your room."

Rosie the Rabbit waves a tiny flag. "Four-step bed! Drawers by kind! Ten-minute tidy! Go, Hazel!"

Hazel the Hedgehog blushes. "The hard part is tomorrow. And the day after that." Freddy nods. "That is why you tell someone your plan. A plan you say out loud sticks." Rosie cheers. "Say it, Hazel!"

What we learned this week

  1. Bed in four steps: sheet flat, blanket smooth, top edge folded, pillow on top.
  2. Sort drawers by kind. One kind, one spot. Fold what is soft.
  3. The closet is a standing drawer. Hang by kind, pair shoes, clear the floor.
  4. The ten-minute tidy: floor, surfaces, bed, trash, in that order, with a timer.
  5. Stop when the timer rings. Tomorrow is another tidy.

Say your plan out loud

Freddy is right. A plan you say out loud is easier to keep. Saying it makes it real. Someone else hears it and can cheer you on.

Today you will tell your room plan to a grown-up. Speak clearly. Say it in order. Use the words you learned this week.

Here is a shape you can follow. Fill in your own details.

  • Every morning I make my bed in four steps.
  • My drawers are sorted by kind. Shirts here, socks here, pants here.
  • Shoes live in pairs in my closet. The floor stays clear.
  • Every evening I do a ten-minute tidy: floor, surfaces, bed, trash.
  • If I miss a day, I start again the next day.
How many steps does your bed routine have?
How many minutes is your evening tidy?
What do you do if you miss a day?

Stand up and tell your room plan to a grown-up.
Speak clearly, in order, with the numbers: four steps, ten minutes.
Ask them one question: what would they add?

Week 2 is done, Helper! Rosie is waving her flag for you. Tomorrow is Family Helper Day: a full room reset with your grown-up.
