The digital divide is differing access to computing devices and the Internet, based on socioeconomic, geographic or demographic characteristics; it raises issues of equity, access and influence. A product should be checked for whether a broad group can use it. Bias often comes from the type or source of data, and collecting more data does not remove it. Developers can make wrong assumptions about users, and diverse perspectives help avoid bias. Crowdsourcing and citizen science gather input and data from many people.
