Rocket races around the yard. "Huff, puff!"
Raven asks, "What do you notice about your breathing?"
Nova says, "Your muscles asked for more air."
When you move a lot, you breathe more often.
Your working muscles need more oxygen.
So you take more breaths.
When you rest, your breathing slows down again.
You do not have to remember to breathe.
Your brain keeps you breathing.
It works even while you sleep!
Sometimes you can change your breathing.
You do that when you sing.
Rocket counted breaths while a grown-up watched a clock.
These are made-up practice numbers.
They are not real breathing numbers.
