After a long hike, Raven gulps from her water bottle. Rocket shakes his empty one. "I forgot to fill it!"
"What do you notice about how you feel?" Raven asks.
"Thirsty," says Rocket. "And a bit slow."
Nova floats over the creek. "Water is in almost every job your body does," she says. "Let's count the jobs."
All living things need water.
Water makes up more than half of your body weight!
Your blood has a lot of water in it. Blood carries oxygen to your cells.
Water helps keep your temperature normal. Remember sweat? It is almost all water.
You also need water to digest your food and get rid of waste.
Drink when you are thirsty. Drinking before you feel thirsty helps too.
Drink extra water on hot days and when you exercise.
Drink before, during and after playing hard.
