Body Lab Day: Body Lab Report

Rocket, Raven and Nova spread out twelve weeks of notes, drawings and charts.

"We learned so much," Rocket says. "How do we share it all?"

Raven smiles. "What do you notice? Every system connects to the others."

Nova glows bright. "Make a report that shows the whole team," she says. "Then present it to your family."

  1. Cells make tissues, tissues make organs, and organs work in systems.
  2. Bones, muscles, heart, lungs and digestion keep you moving and fueled.
  3. Your brain, nerves and senses take in the world and respond.
  4. Skin, tears, mucus and white blood cells defend you.
  5. Sleep, movement, water and a mix of foods keep every system working.
◇ BODY LAB REPORT
Fold a big sheet of paper into four boxes.
Box 1: Draw a body system you liked and label two parts.
Box 2: Write one way that system works with another system.
Box 3: Write a healthy day plan with sleep, movement, water and food.
Box 4: Write the coolest fact you learned in Body Lab.
Present your report to your family. Each listener asks one question.
Safety first
Use child-safe scissors if you cut anything. A grown-up helps with any tricky cuts.
Any movement in your presentation happens in a clear space.
For a grown-up
Ask: which system surprised you most? How do two systems help each other?
Celebrate the effort. Every draft and mistake was part of the science.
FINAL BODY LAB CHECK
  • Read the question.
  • Tap your answer.
Which system carries oxygen and food to cells?
Which habit helps the body defenders the most?
Which keeps every system working?
What do organs work together in? Type one word.
WHY THIS EXERCISEOrgans work together in body systems.

Congratulations, Body Lab scientist! You explored every system, from cells to a healthy day. Keep asking, "What do you notice?"
