Tuesday: Egg to chick

Nova projects a cyan egg in the air.

It cracks. A chick pops out!

"It is so fluffy," says Raven.

Rocket asks, "Will it look like its mom?"

Birds start as eggs

All birds lay eggs.

A parent bird keeps the eggs warm.

Inside, a chick grows.

When it is ready, the chick hatches.

It breaks out of the shell.

A chick grows up

A new chick is small and fluffy.

Its soft fluff is called down.

The parents bring it food.

Real feathers grow in.

The chick gets bigger.

Soon it looks like its parents, but not exactly.
