Rocket unrolls a paper map of the station. "This map shows every room!" he says.
Raven points at the lab. "What do you notice? The map does not show Nova, or the photo pile."
"Maps leave things out," Rocket admits.
Nova floats over the map. "Here is a hint," she says. "Is our tree like this map?"
A model is a simple version of something. It helps us work things out.
A map is a model of a place. A globe is a model of Earth.
Every model leaves some things out. That keeps it simple.
But it also means a model can be wrong sometimes.
AI keeps a model of the world. It uses the model to work things out.
Our decision tree is a model of how to sort photos.
It only knows its two questions. It does not know some tools have no handle.
AI does not think the way a person does. It follows its model.

Card 8 was a metal ruler. It is a tool with no handle.
The tree never asks about straight edges or shiny metal. So it guessed rock.
The tree left out a feature that mattered.
Wise thinking, explorer! Tomorrow we look for models in everyday life.
