Thursday: Two points of view

Chris the Coyote taps the feather in his hat. "Story time!" he calls.

"Today two friends feel two ways about one thing," says Chris.

Donnie listens with his big, soft ears.

"Read each friend in a different voice," says Ferris.

"That helps us hear how each one feels."

Learn it: different points of view

Characters can feel different ways about the same thing.

That is their point of view.

When you read, give each character a voice.

A happy voice can be fast and bright.

A worried voice can be soft and small.

You have your own point of view too.

Donnie asks: How does each friend feel? He reads their words.

Read it
The Windy Day
The wind blew hard across Fern Hollow.
Samantha the Squirrel zoomed up a tall tree.
"Wheee! Wind is the best!" she cheered.
Her tail puffed out like a flag.
Lucy the Ladybug held tight to a daisy.
"I do not like wind," she said in a small voice.
"It blows me off my flower."
Samantha saw that Lucy felt worried.
She scooped Lucy into a cozy nook in the tree.
"Now we can watch the wind together," said Samantha.
Lucy smiled. "From here, the wind looks fun."
