Tuesday: The middle

Bennie the Bear carries a basket of wooden blocks to the stump.

"The middle is the busy part," says Ferris the Fox.

"Characters try things. Some tries work, and some do not."

Bennie smiles. "Like building a tower! You try and try again."

The middle comes after the beginning.

In the middle, characters try to fix the problem.

The Block Tower
Bennie the Bear and Samantha the Squirrel wanted a tall tower.
They stacked wooden blocks on a flat rock.
The tower grew taller and taller.
Then Samantha added one more block, and it fell down!
"Let us try again," said Bennie calmly.
This time, they put the big blocks at the bottom.
The tower grew tall, but it leaned to one side.
Clunk! It fell again.
Samantha giggled. "Let us try one more time!"
They used big blocks at the bottom and kept every block straight.
The tower stood tall and did not lean at all.
"Our best tower yet!" cheered Samantha.
