Week 02 · Story Parts

Story Hunt

Story Hunt: story parts
// Beginning, middle and end
⏱ about 15 min

Saturday: Story Hunt

Ferris the Fox swings his green backpack onto the trail.

"Story Hunt day!" he says. "Find a story book at home or the library."

Chris the Coyote tips his hat. "Read it, then retell it."

"Beginning, middle and end," says Ferris. "Off you go!"

  1. The beginning tells who, where and the problem.
  2. In the middle, characters try to fix the problem.
  3. The end tells how the problem is fixed.
  4. To retell, say the big parts in order.
◇ STORY HUNT

Fold a paper into three boxes.
In box one, draw the beginning.
In box two, draw the middle. In box three, draw the end.

For a grown-up
Ask: How did it start? What happened next? How did it end?
Keep retells short. Three or four sentences is plenty.
