Saturday: Sound Hunt

Oliver the Owl hoots from a branch on Cloud Hill.

"Sound Hunt day!" says Oliver.

"Find ou or ow things at home, like a couch or towel."

"Then find oi or oy, like a coin or a toy."

"Ready, set, go!"

  1. ou says the sound in out: cloud, house, mouth.
  2. ow says that sound too: cow, crown, town.
  3. ow can also say the long o in snow.
  4. oi and oy say the sound in boy: coin, soil, toy.
◇ SOUND HUNT
Walk around your home with your grown-up.
Find two things with the sound in out, like a couch.
Find two things with the sound in boy, like a toy.
Say each word slowly. Listen for the glide.
