Ferris climbs higher. Rain starts to fall on the ridge.

Ferris sits under a big leaf to stay dry.

"Rain has a team of letters," says Ferris.

"The a and the i work together. They make one long a sound."

A vowel team is two or more letters with one vowel sound.

ai and ay say the long a in rain and day.

ee and ea say the long e in bee and leaf.

oa and ow say the long o in boat and snow.

igh says the long i in night.
