Sound Hunt: short vowels

Saturday: Sound Hunt

Lizzy the Lizard waves her notebook.

"Sound Hunt day!" says Lizzy.

"Find short vowel words at home. Ready, set, go!"

  1. The vowels are a, e, i, o and u.
  2. Short vowels: cat, bed, pig, dog, sun.
  3. A long vowel says its name, like cake.
  4. Change one letter to make a new word.
◇ SOUND HUNT
Walk around your home with your grown-up.
Find three things with short vowels, like cup or mat.
Say each word slowly. Name the vowel.
HUNT CHECK
  • Read the question.
  • Tap your answer.

Draw two things with short vowel names.
For a grown-up
Say vowel sounds, not names: the a in cat.
If a word is hard, blend it together slowly.
