"Let us hunt for partners," says Lucy.

"Find groups that make 10!"

Hunt for partners

Find a group of things.

Split it into two groups.

Count each group.

Try it: Number Hunt
Find 5 shoes. Split them two ways.
Find 7 spoons. Make two groups.
Find 10 leaves or rocks.
Make two piles. Count each pile.

Put 10 small toys on the table.
Your grown-up hides some under a cup.
You count the toys you can see.
Say how many are hidden. Then switch!
Draw 10 apples in two groups.

Ask, "How many more make 10?"
Use fingers or a ten-frame to check.
