Saturday: Number Hunt

Hazel puts on her cozy scarf.

"Numbers hide all around us," she says.

"Let us go and find them!"

Hunt for written numbers

Numbers are on clocks and books.

They are on doors and signs.

Look closely with a grown-up.

Try it: Number Hunt
Find a 1 on a clock.
Find a 5 in a book.
Find a 0 somewhere.
Find an 8 that looks like a snowman.
Find an empty box. It holds zero!

◇ NUMBER CARDS WITH A GROWN-UP
Write 0 to 10 on little papers.
Mix them up.
Pick a card and read it.
Put out that many spoons.
For 0, put out none!
Write your favorite number. Draw that many stars.
For a grown-up
Your child read numbers 0 to 10.
Zero means none at all.
Point to numbers you see each day.
Ask, "What number is that?"
Backward numbers are normal at this age.
