Friday: Freddy's square game

Freddy the Frog hops across a patio of square stones.

"Ribbit! Each stone is one square foot," he says.

"Let us play a game of area and perimeter."

Hazel straightens her scarf. "Area covers. Perimeter goes around," she says.

Bennie nods. "And we can multiply or break apart to find area."

Try it
Find a floor, patio or game board with squares.
Count the squares across and down.
Multiply to find the area.
Count the edges all the way around for the perimeter.
Draw a patio of square stones and write its area and perimeter.
