Saturday: Number Hunt

Chris and Bennie walk around the trail cabins with a notebook.

"Let us hunt for arrays and equal groups," says Chris.

"Windows have panes in rows."

"Egg cartons have cups in rows, too," says Bennie.

"Every array we find is a multiplication!"

Hunt for arrays and groups

Look around your home or yard with a grown-up.

Find things set out in equal rows or equal groups.

Write the multiplication for each one.

Try it: Number Hunt

On paper, draw your favorite array from the hunt. Write its multiplication.
For a grown-up
This week your child learned that multiplying counts equal groups.
4 × 6 means 4 groups of 6.
Arrays, jumps on a number line and lengths are also equal groups.
Ask them to make up a story for 3 × 5.

Great hunting! Next week Lucy helps us divide.
