Saturday: Number Hunt

Bennie and Bruce pack a notebook and a pencil.

"Big numbers hide all around us," says Bennie.

"Look on books, doors and clocks."

Bruce adds a challenge for the hunt.

"Find a number with three digits. Then tell me what each digit means!"

Hunt for big numbers

Look around your home with a grown-up.

Find numbers with three digits.

Say each number name out loud.

Try it: Number Hunt
Find a page number over 100 in a book.
Find a three-digit number on a box or a can.
Count 50 small things by fives.
Write one number in expanded form.

Your grown-up says a number with three digits.
You say the hundreds, tens and ones.
Then you say a number for them!
Take turns five times.
Draw the biggest number you found on your hunt.
For a grown-up
This week your child counted to 1000.
They skip counted by fives, tens and hundreds.
Ask what each digit in a number means.
For 347, the 3 means three hundreds.
