Wednesday: How many more?

Chris has 9 shiny stones, and Bennie has 6.

"Who has more?" asks Bennie. "And how many more?"

Chris lines up the stones in two rows, side by side.

"Look," says Chris. "I have three stones with no partner."

"So you have 3 more," says Bennie.

Learn it: compare

Line up the two groups. Match them one to one.

The ones with no partner show how many more.

We can also subtract: 9 - 6 = 3.
