Look for numbers with two digits.

You might find them on book pages or a calendar.

Compare two numbers you find.

Find a book. Open to two pages.
Read both page numbers.
Say which page number is greater.
Find 10 more than one page number.

Each of you grabs a handful of small things.
Make piles of ten and count.
Say your numbers out loud.
Who has more? Who has less?
Play again three times.
Draw two numbers you found. Circle the greater one.
For a grown-up
This week your child compared two-digit numbers.
They look at the tens first, then the ones.
They also found 10 more and 10 less.
Ask: what is 10 more than 23?
Ten more changes only the tens digit.
