// Same as, true or false
⏱ about 15 min

Saturday: Number Hunt

Oliver looks around with big round eyes.

"Let us hunt for things that are equal," says Oliver.

"Find two groups that match!"

Hunt for equal groups

Find two groups of things.

Count each group.

Are they the same? Then they are equal.

Try it: Number Hunt
Find 2 shoes and 2 socks. Are they equal?
Find 3 cups and 3 spoons.
Find two groups that are not equal.
Make two equal piles of toys.
Say, "4 is the same as 4."
WHAT DID YOU LEARN?
  • Read the question.
  • Tap your answer.
What does the equal sign mean?
? = 3 + 5
Which is the same as 6?
◇ TRUE OR FALSE WITH A GROWN-UP
Your grown-up says a number sentence.
You say true or false.
Use toys to check each side.
Then you make one for them!
Draw two equal groups from your hunt.
For a grown-up
This week your child learned the equal sign.
It means "the same as," not "the answer is."
Ask, "Is 4 + 1 = 2 + 3 true?"
Let them use objects to check each side.

Great hunting! Next week Riley helps us find missing numbers.
