Crew Quest: Computer hunt

It is Saturday at the clubhouse.

Rocket waves a clipboard. "Let us count computers!"

Raven grabs a pencil. "What do you notice at home?"

Nova whirs. "Hint: look for screens."

  1. A computer is a machine that follows instructions.
  2. Laptops, tablets, phones and desktops are computers.
  3. A computer does one step at a time.
  4. Nova lives inside a machine too.
◇ FAMILY COMPUTER HUNT
Walk through your home with a grown-up.
Look for computers: desktop, laptop, tablet, phone.
Point to each one you find.
Say its kind out loud.
Count them together on your fingers.
Which kind did you find the most?
Safety first
Look only. Do not touch cords or plugs.
Ask before you pick anything up.
Plugs and chargers are a grown-up job.
For a grown-up
Ask: what do you notice about each one?
Ask: how do you know it is a computer?
Any machine that follows instructions counts.
