Family Helper Day: Make my bed

Morning light fills the den.

Hazel pats her neat pillow.

"Your turn at home," she says.

Rosie cheers. "Sheet, blanket, pillow. Go!"

  1. A bed has a sheet, a blanket and a pillow.
  2. Pull the sheet flat and smooth it.
  3. Spread and smooth the blanket.
  4. Pillow on top. Pat it straight.
  5. Make your bed every morning.
◇ FAMILY BED MAKING
Go to your bed with your grown-up.
Stand at the foot. Pull the sheet flat.
Smooth it with your hands.
Spread the blanket. Smooth it too.
Set the pillow at the top. Pat it.
Step back and look. Say: I made my bed!
Then help your grown-up make their bed.
Safety first
Feet stay on the floor.
Pull gently.
A grown-up lifts heavy blankets and tucks stuck corners.
For a grown-up
Let your child lead. Help only when asked.
Say the step names out loud together.
Ask: what will you do tomorrow morning?
Wobbly is fine. The habit is the goal.
