The den trash can is so full the lid will not close. Hazel the Hedgehog pokes it. "Someone should take this out."
Samantha the Squirrel grins. "Someone is a Crew member, and today it is us. Tie, lift with two hands, carry, new bag. Then wash up."
Oliver the Owl flaps over. "And the recycling bin is full too. Different bin, different bag, same careful carry."
Taking out trash and recycling is a job you do with your grown-up. They open outside bins and lids. You tie, carry and refill.
Trash goes in the trash bin. Recycling goes in the recycling bin. Never mix them.
A full bag can be heavy. If it is too heavy for two hands, ask your grown-up to carry it.
If the bag is wet at the bottom, slip a second bag under it. If something leaks, tell your grown-up.
Every home has a trash bin. Many homes also have a recycling bin. Some have a bin for food scraps.
Learn which bin is which at your home. Ask your grown-up to show you where each one lives.
Tomorrow the Crew learns how to sort recycling. Today the job is just getting it out and keeping bins tidy.
