Friday: Review and a mealtime plan

Rosie the Rabbit hops onto the clean table. "Set, served, talked, cleared. You did the whole meal!"

Lucy lands beside her. "One more thing. A job you do once is a job. A job you plan is a habit."

Freddy the Frog clears his throat. "Review first! Then we each write a mealtime plan. Three lines, clear and kind."

Freddy's review

Freddy asks one question from each day. Think back before you tap.

Write a mealtime plan

A plan is a few clear sentences that say who does what, and when.

Lucy's plan has three lines. One for before the meal, one for during, one for after.

Lucy's mealtime plan
Before dinner, I set the table for everyone eating.
During dinner, I pass with two hands and ask the best part question.
After dinner, I ask to clear, then rinse my plate and cup.
  • Start each line with a time word: before, during, after.
  • Say exactly what you will do. Set the table is clearer than help.
  • Keep it short enough to pin on the Helper chart.
Which time word starts the first line of Lucy's plan?
What does Lucy do during dinner, besides passing?
What is the first thing Lucy does after dinner?
PUT THE PARTS OF A MEALTIME PLAN IN ORDER.
  • ?After: ask to clear and rinse
  • ?Before: set the table
  • ?During: pass and talk kindly
WHY THIS EXERCISEBefore, during and after is the order of every meal.
