Hazel the Hedgehog opens her closet door. A shoe falls out. Then another shoe that does not match.
Lizzy the Lizard picks them up. "Where are the partners?" Hazel shrugs. "Somewhere in there."
Lizzy pulls the shoes out and lines them up in pairs. "Shoes in pairs on the floor. Clothes on hangers by kind. Floor clear so the door can shut." Hazel nods slowly. "The closet is a drawer that stands up."
The closet follows the same rule as the drawers. One kind, one spot.
Hanging clothes go by kind. Shirts together, then pants, then jackets. Shoes sit in pairs on the floor or a rack.
The closet floor should be clear enough that nothing falls when you open the door.
Hangers can be tricky at first. Here is the easy way.
Hold the hanger by the hook. Slide one shoulder of the shirt onto one side. Slide the other shoulder on. Button the top button if there is one. Hang it on the rod with the hook facing the back wall.

Drawers done, closet done. Tomorrow Hazel teaches the ten-minute tidy that keeps it all this way.
