Rocket sets up a little stage.

Raven holds the garden plan.

Nova says, "Now you are the teacher."

Raven asks, "What do you notice we learned?"

  1. Engineers name a problem, gather information, then plan.
  2. Plants need light and water.
  3. Pots need drainage holes and a tray.
  4. Bean plants and marigolds need full sun.
  5. Young plants are like their parents, but not exactly.

Set your garden plan where everyone can see it.
Set your bean pot next to it.
Show your grown-up the sunniest window.
Explain why each pot goes there.
Teach your three plant facts.
Point to your bean plant as you teach.
Ask your grown-up one question about plants.
Clap for each other!
Safety first
A grown-up carries the bean pot if it is heavy.
Wear gloves if you touch potting mix.
Never put a leaf, seed or soil in your mouth.
Wash your hands when you finish.
For a grown-up
Let your child lead the show.
Ask: why did you pick that window?
Ask: what would you change next time?
Praise the thinking, not just the drawing.
